beach, sand, waves and gulls... my soul is with you today!

Today's the sort of day I just might have skipped class for. and driven to the beach to frolic in shorts and a tank top with sand between my toes. in the end I might have eaten dinner at Sonny's Pizza and Pasta. and revelled in the palm lined sunset and the breaze off the bay. a thoroughly enjoyed day.

skipping work's not so easy. and there's no beach and no palms and no Sonny's in Colorado. I miss the beach.

not that i'm unhappy. it's good to have steady work. and things i love to go home to. it's just that this sunny, balmy december day has awakened the carefree spirit in me. and it find's little creative space in this green and tan office with dried flowers, children's drawings and a half burned out light for decoration.

ah yes, social work is social work is social work. and there's something funny to thinking I'm a professional now rather than a student. the free spirit who loves this work also loves to be free of from it.

it's distressing but there are great deal of undone things, stacks of paperwork, unheard messages, unmade calls and generally unmet needs demanding me from all corners of this office. i suppose i must sign out and attend to at least some of them!

beach, sand, waves, salsa, seaguls and pier... my soul is with you this day!!!

are you real

are you a real person? are you?
do you breath?
are you there?
do you believe?
can someone hold your arm, touch your knee
whisper secrets in your ear?
is there a sacred intimacy with the one you love?
is there laughter in your heart?
sorrow or despair?
are you a real person? are you?
do you have a watch?
do you keep time?
rush from place to place?
busy with the business of life?

are you a real person? are you?
do you have a history?
people that you left?
and those who want you back?
those who did you wrong?
and those who made you strong?
do you sometimes pray to the god you know is not for real?
and sometimes curse the one you're certain must exist?
is there a future that you hope for?
and sometimes that you dread?
with people and yourself halfway there ahead?
is there purpose to your wandering?
is there meaning to your drift?
are you a real person? are you?
