there was a question i had been pondering in my own thinking. and it came to me, out of the blue, as we sat talking in his lamplit office. we had been discussing the meaning of life and the god construct which he believes there may be something beyond, although you can only discuss it in terms of construction... there was a stretching momentary lull in the animated flow of dialogue as we each stared past each other at the book lined walls. suddenly i leaned forward and asked "do you believe we have a right to live the best life we can even though other people can't have it?"
"no!" he said with a surprisingly emphatic and immediate certainty. and after a moment continued... "because that's not the best life we can have."
